Popular Indian actor Pearl V Puri was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping a minor girl. The actor was arrested and held in custody at Vasai’s Waliv police station under POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, in a 2019 case. The actor was later taken to court where he was not granted bail. Now, as per latest reports in the Times Of India, Pearl V Puri will be taken to Thane jail after his RT-PCR test comes negative.
Pearl was remanded to a 14-day judicial custody yesterday. Sanjay Patil DCP (Zone 2, Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar), said, “Anyone who is arrested has to undergo a COVID-19 test. Pearl V Puri will also undergo a RT-PCR test and if it is negative, he will be shifted to Thane jail tomorrow. Right now, he is at the Waliv Police station.”
Yesterday producer Ekta Kapoor shared a post on Instagram & mentioned that she was in touch with the victim’s mother and after various calls with the mother she knows for a fact that Pearl was not involved. Responding to the same, DCP Patil said, “The victim narrated the incident which happened in 2019 on the sets of a TV show. During the investigation, she took the name of the character, the accused was playing in the show. The allegations are not false, there is evidence, so Pearl was arrested. We are investigating further and the truth will come out in the court trial.”
Meanwhile, several TV celebrities including Ekta Kapoor, Anita Hassanandani, Aly Goni, Shaheer Sheikh, Arjun Bijlani, Karishma Tanna, Nia Sharma, Erica Fernandes, Hina Khan among others have come forward and extended their support to Pearl V Puri.
