Actress Payal Ghosh has recently accused filmmaker Anurag Kashyap over sexual assualt. She had accused Anurag Kashyap of raping her for seven years and stated in a tweet that the filmmaker forced himself on her. After accusing him of #MeToo in a video shared on social media, she then approached Versova Police, Mumbai to file a case against the filmmaker.
Yesterday, the police sent in summons to the filmmaker and called him for the interrogation. Now, Anurag Kashyap has reached Versova Police Station for questioning regarding the same. He spotted entering the police station holding a bunch of papers.
ANI reported, “Maharashtra: Film director Anurag Kashyap reaches Versova Police station in Mumbai to appear before the police in connection with the alleged sexual assault against actor Payal Ghosh.”
Meanwhile, Anurag has earlier denied all the allegations of sexual assault and his lawyer has issued a statement as well. The statement reads, “My client, Anurag Kashyap, has been deeply pained by the false allegations of sexual misconduct that have recently surfaced against him. These allegations are completely false, malicious and dishonest. It is sad that a social movement as important as the #MeToo movement has been co-opted by vested interests and reduced to a mere tool for character assassination.”
It further reads, “Fictitious allegations of this nature seriously undermine the movement and seek to unconscionably trade upon the pain and trauma of the actual victims of sexual harassment and abuse. My client has been fully advised of his rights and remedies in law and intends to pursue them to the fullest extent.”
