The film had received a great response from viewers on its release. Kareena even got the Best Actor award in a Leading Role (Female) at several awards functions. The film Jab We Met was a story of a feisty Punjabi girl, Geet Dhillon (Kareena) and a Mumbai based businessman, Aditya Kashyap (Shahid).
