Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor‘s upcoming film Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl based on the real life of air force pilot Gunjan Saxena is all set to premiere on Netflix. The film directed by Sharan Sharma, starring Janhvi Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Angad Bedi, Viineet Kumar, Manav Vij and Ayesha Raza.
The film produced under Dharma Productions and Zee Studios. Speaking about the film’s OTT release, producer Karan Johar said in a statement, “Gunjan Saxena is a defining film based on a true story about a woman who showed unparalleled courage, and inspiration to many in the coming years. We are excited to partner with Netflix and share this fearless story about following your heart and your dreams with millions around the world.”
Karan Johar and Janhvi Kapoor both shared a video announcing the release of the film on Netflix. The video tells the story of real life Gunjan Saxena in the voice of Janhvi. Sharing the video on her Instagram handle, Janhvi wrote, “Gunjan Saxena – The Kargil Girl. This isn’t just a film for me- it’s a journey that’s taught me to believe in myself. A journey I can’t wait to share with you all. About a girl who set out to do something simple, follow her dreams. #GunjanSaxena – #TheKargilGirl coming soon on Netflix.”

The film Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl originally scheduled to release theatrically on 13 March 2020. However, that release date postponed to 24 April 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which again postponed. Now, finally the film is all set to stream on Netflix.
The Film is based on the life of Flight Lieutenant Gunjan Saxena, who along with Flight Lieutenant Srividya Rajan had created history when she became the first Indian women in combat during the Kargil war.
