Former Indian Cricket Team captain Kapil Dev has suffered a massive heart attack and is said to be undergoing angioplasty surgery at a hospital in New Delhi. Legendary Indian cricketer and one of the finest all-rounders that the cricket world has produced, Kapil Dev led India to their first World Cup triumph in 1983.

On Friday morning, Kapil Dev suffered a heart attack and has been immediately hospitalised at the Fortis Escort Hospital in New Delhi wherein he underwent angioplasty surgery.

According to the latest reports in TellyChakkar, the 61-year-old cricketer is said to be in a stable condition now. The report further stated that his family members are yet to give an update on Kapil Dev‘s health.

The veteran cricketer felt unwell on Thursday following which he was taken to a hospital here, Indian Cricketers Association (ICA) President Ashok Malhotra was quoted saying by PTI.

Malhotra said, “He is feeling okay now. I just spoke to his wife (Romi). He was feeling uneasy yesterday. He is undergoing check-ups at a hospital as we speak.”

Statement by Fortis Escorts, Okhla, Delhi on Kapil Dev’s health. “Cricketer Kapil Dev came to Fortis Escorts Heart Institute (Okhla Road) emergency department at 1:00 am on 23rd October with a complaint of chest pain. He was evaluated and an emergency coronary angioplasty was performed in the middle of the night. Currently, he is admitted in ICU and under close supervision of Dr Atul Mathur and his team. Kapil Dev is stable now and he is expected to get discharged in a couple of days”, Fortis Escorts, Okhla, Delhi.
