Indian film director and screenwriter Basu Chatterjee passes away at the age of 90. Basu Chatterjee best known for his films like Choti Si Baat, Rajnigandha, Baaton Baaton Mein, Ek Ruka Hua Faisla, Piya Ka Ghar, Khatta Meetha and Chameli Ki Shaadi and many more.
He died at his residence in Mumbai on Thursday because of age-related issues, reported news agency PTI. Ashoke Pandit, President of The Indian Film And Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA), told PTI that Basu Chatterjee was suffering from age related ailments: “He passed away peacefully in his sleep in the morning. He wasn’t keeping well for quite some time due to old age and died at his residence. It’s a great loss to the film industry.”
Taking to his twitter handle, Ashoke Pandit tweeted, “I am extremely grieved to inform you all of the demise of Legendary Filmmaker #BasuChatterjee ji. His last rites will be performed today at Santacruz West (Opp Police station )crematorium at 3 pm. It’s a great loss to the industry. Will miss you Sir. #RIPBasuChaterjee.”
