Cinemas are closed since March 2020, across the nation due to Covid-19 pandemic to avoid spread of virus. Now, as per recent media reports theatres are likely to re-open from August 2020 and get back to entertaining people after a long gap of 4 months. Trade analyst Komal Nahta in his latest Tweet mentioned that cinemas halls are likely to open from August 1.
He tweeted, “Great news. Cinemas to get permission to reopen from 1st August, says a reliable source.”

As per latest reports in the Times of India, Amit Khare, the Information and Broadcasting (I&B) secretary, has pushed the envelope to Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to re-open cinemas across India either from August 1 or by the end of the month. Many Cinemas owners or decision makers of various cinemas are waiting for the final decision of the government. So that they shall prepare their property to welcome the audience.
Rajeev Patni, COO of INOX Leisure Ltd was quoted saying by publication, “We would love to have all our multiplexes and screens operational at the earliest, but we will have to wait for the final operational guidelines which will be provided by the government authorities.”
“We’re extremely hopeful of getting permissions starting August and hope to resume across states by the end of September,” Gautam Dutta, CEO, PVR Cinemas said in an interview to Mint.
