Actress Rupali Ganguly, who’s currently seen in Star Plus’ highest-rated show Anupamaa, has become a household name with her portrayal in the show. The show clocked in 500 episodes and it also been a TRP topper for the longest time now. Rupali’s onscreen chemistry with co-star Gaurav Khanna Aka Anuj loved by the viewers.
And yesterday, on the occasion of Women’s Day, Rupali Ganguly spoke to India Forums
Talking about Feminism, Rupali quoted saying, “Feminism is an overrated concept I think (with all due respect). I think every woman who is a mother, a housewife, is in a way, a feminist. It’s not about constantly screaming and fighting for your rights, its about endorsing your values in things that you do in your daily life – like when a woman respects herself, loves herself, when she does not need a validation from any man, when she validates herself, that is feminism and that is womanhood to me.”

She added, “Because the day a woman feels proud about just being her, it does not have to be her achievement, her husband, her position in life vis a vis other things in life; the day she feels proud of herself being what she has, her values, and everything, that’s a proud moment for any woman and it does not have to be someone who is educated or like the women of today’s world, I am also talking about rural women, many of them are also progressive and the values they instill in the generation to come, the way they bring them up, those are the women who are the feminists.”
Rupali spoke about playing the role of Monisha, and now Anupamaa. She also reveals how these characters been strong roles in her career. She said, “It was never a career choice, I didn’t know what was ambition and for me, it was about doing something different and I lucked out because Star Plus has been such a platforms for me and I was blessed to get all these roles and getting a choice to choose. Monisha was a completely different personality but a strong character and now, I feel blessed to be doing Anupamaa.”
