Star Plus show Anupamaa starring Rupali Ganguly, Sudhanshu Pandey and Gaurav Khanna in pivotal roles, has been making lot of buzz. The show is doing well on the TRPs chart and ruling at number 1 since long time. Anuj-Anupama is winning everyone’s hearts with their sizzling chemistry and fans fondly calls the duo #MaAn.
In a recent interaction with ETimes TV, Rupali Ganguly, whose current romantic track with Gaurav Khanna in the show Anupamaa gaining immense popularity, spoke about getting a chance to romance in her 40s. The actress talked about her husband’s reaction to her romantic track in the show and the audience’s love for mature love stories.
In the show we have seen a lot of changed, Anupamaa initially started with a message of women empowerment, and now the viewers are seeing a romantic track between Gaurav and Rupali. Talking about how it feel romancing on screen, Rupali quoted saying, “It feels absolutely wonderful. Change is the only constant thing in Anupamaa. Initially, the show focussed on Vanraj and Anupamaa’s story and their family drama. I never really imagined that something like this — another man coming into Anupmaa’s life – would happen in this show when it began.”
She adds, “The track has been so organic. The way Rajan Shahi (producer) and his team have created this whole track of Anupamaa’s transformation, is just so heart-warming. Just like I always say that there is a little girl in every woman and a boy in every man, and whenever I watch my scenes with Gaurav, who plays Anuj, I get butterflies in my stomach. Iss umar mein bhi Rajan Shahi ne meri heroine banne ki saari muradein poori kar di hain.”

Currently, one side younger love stories grabbing everyone’s attention, on the other hand, Anupamaa’s middle-aged love story is being loved immensely by the viewers. Speaking about if she ever thought of getting a chance to romance on screen at this point of time, Rupali said, “I never thought I would get to romance on-screen at this age, especially the one which I am doing right now which puts your heart racing, and there is no physical contact between the characters. I see a lot of physical chemistry happening in shows but here the audience is craving for it.”
Will mature love stories always have their fan base on Indian TV? she said, “Absolutely! Mature love stories will always have their fanbase. I mean it is wonderful to see young people romancing but for us women, who are above 40, characters like Anupamaa and Anuj come along, who make us believe that there can be a prince charming in our lives too.”
Rupali further shared how her husband reacts to her romantic track onscreen in the show. She said, “My husband is loving the present romantic track between Anuj Kapadia and Anupamaa. We both watch the show together. He is my biggest critic as well as my biggest supporter. Since he himself has directed so many commercials, he catches the little nuances and tells me that I could have done this better or this thing didn’t work. So I kind of listen to a lot of things he says and try to improve upon them. My husband is my biggest fan.”
