Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt to begin the shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s film Gangubai Kathiawadi soon. Film produced by Bhansali and Jayantilal Gada under their respective banners Bhansali Productions and Pen India Limited. The film stars Alia Bhatt along with Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz.
The story of the film based on Hussain Zaidi‘s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai about Gangubai Kothewali, the madam of a brothel in Kamathipura.
It’s been almost two months, film and TV shoots are on halt due to COVID-19 Pandemic. The production houses has suffered huge losses amid lockdown. Now, Maharashtra Government has finally given the permission to start the TV and Film shoots following the restricted guidelines. The filmmakers set to start the production and post-production work of their ventures.
As the shootings are set to start. The makers of Alia Bhatt starrer film Gangubai Kathiawadi might start the shooting soon. A source closed to the film told Koimoi.com that Gangubai Kathiawadi will go on floors by the end of July month. The source said, “A large set of Kamathipura has been built in Mumbai’s Filmcity and contrary to rumours it hasn’t been dismantled. Only a few props and other materials that were used during the shoot were sent back to manage its growing rents. In fact, they have now completely covered the set to protect it from the rain, and will be using the same location to shoot the remaining of the portions.”
The source also revealed that the makers has already completed the 70 per cent of shooting of the film. And remaining will complete when the shoot resumes. The source told the portal, “The film is made for the theatre-going audience and Sanjay and team want to release it as soon as possible. They are presently working out a plan for the shoot and are aiming to resume by July end. Being the perfectionist that Sanjay is, he has utilized this lockdown time to prep for the remainder of the shoot.”
