Veteran TV/film actress Surekha Sikri passes away today (July 16) morning after suffering a cardiac arrest. The actress was 75 and was unwell for quite some time owing to a second brain stroke last year. Soon after the news of Surekha Sikri‘s demise, her Balika Vadhu co-stars Sidharth Shukla took his social media handle and expressed grief over her sad demise.
The actor tweeted, “RIP Dadisa ……. May God bless your soul #SurekhaSikri.” While working together on the most popular show, Sidharth had revealed that Surekha Sikri was his most favorite co-star. Sidharth, who played the role of Shiv in Balika Vadhu, shared a good equation with Surekha Ji on the sets during shoot days.

Surekha Sikri made her film debut in the 1978 political drama Kissa Kursi Ka and made a mark with roles in films, TV and on stage over more than 40 years. She won the National Award as Best Supporting Actress thrice, for her roles in Tamas (1988), Mammo (1995) and Badhaai Ho (2018). She won the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1989 for her contributions towards Hindi theater.
Sikri‘s last release, Badhaai Ho (2018) got her immense recognition and appreciation from viewers as well as critics. She won three awards: the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress, Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress and the Screen Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the film.
