Legendary actor Soumitra Chatterjee passes away today. He was 85. As per reports, the actor was admitted to a hospital in his hometown in Kolkata on 6th October 2020 after being tested positive for COVID-19. It was a long battle for Chatterjee spanning over 40 days but ultimately he succumbed to the same and passed away.

Chatterjee was one of the most prolific names in the Bengali industry where he is best remembered for his many collaborations with the great Satyajit Ray and even received the coveted Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, besides winning three National Film Awards.
