Director Nishikant Kamat passes away Riteish Deshmukh Soha Ali Khan Mourns his demise

Director-actor Nishikant Kamat passes away on Monday in a private hospital in Hyderabad. Nishikant Kamat best known for directing Bollywood films like Drishyam, Madaari and John Abraham starrer Force and Rocky Handsome and many more.

Nishikant was unwell and admitted to a hospital on July 31. In a statement on August 12, the medical facility had said that Kamat was hospitalised for jaundice and abdominal distention, and was later diagnosed with chronic liver disease. The hospital had described his condition as “critical but stable”. The filmmaker had battled liver cirrhosis in the past, which said to have relapsed again.

Just while ago, ANI reported, “Director #NishikantKamat passed away at 1624 hours today. He was suffering from Liver Cirrhosis for the past two years: AIG Hospitals, HyderabadQuote Tweet.”

Actor Riteish Deshmukh mourned the demise of late director by sharing a throwback picture of himself with him. He wrote, “I will miss you my friend. #NishikantKamat Rest In Peace.”

Actress Soha Ali Khan, who worked with the filmmaker in his Bollywood debut Mumbai Meri Jaan also offered her condolence and mourned his demise. She wrote, “Deeply shocked and saddened to hear about the untimely demise of Nishikant Kamat. I worked with him 12 years ago in his first Hindi film, Mumbai Meri Jaan, and it was an experience I will always value. My most heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. #nishikantkamat may he be at peace.”

Nishikant Kamat made his directorial debut with Marathi movie Dombivali Fast. The movie won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi. He made his first Bollywood film Mumbai Meri Jaan in 2008. The movie was based on the 2006 Mumbai bombings.

Kamat‘s biggest hit was Ajay DevgnTabu starrer Drishyam, which was a remake of the Malayalam movie of the same name. He also featured as an actor in the Marathi film Saatchya Aat Gharat and his 2016 directorial Rocky Handsome.
